In essence we reconstruct the attractor by embedding it in an  m-dimensional psuedo-state-space;  the sequence of psuedo-states being                                                               for   k = m , . . . , N .

Unfortunately,  we typically do not know what embedding dimension to use.  (Spurious results are frequently claimed through using too high an  m.)  We return to this difficulty later.
